November Greetings, Classmates
After publishing last month's news of Hurricane Ike, Bob Strimer sent a note.
We're in Seattle right now, having driven 4185 miles in the Miata with the top down to get here. Read your latest email this morning. Interestingly, we began our trip on Sunday the 14th and between Louisville and Indianapolis we caught up with the hurricane. It was scary watching trees come down along the interstate. Had to put the top up and shortly thereafter had a branch hit the passenger side windshield and mirror. We had to detour into Illinois because the interstates in northwest Indiana were closed due to flooding from the previous day's record rainfall.
Before our trip we had an overnight visit from Jim and Becky Kucera. They were on the way home after a two week business/pleasure trip and thanks to Roger Ross as a communication facilitator we got them to Greeneville. Had a great night on the deck enjoying good food, some adult beverages and recalling old times.

NEWS FROM THE ARTS WORLD - Two classmates will be displaying their work this month.
From Cathy Crosby Vigor -
I am one of the featured artists in "Designed for Adornment: Silk and Sterling" at the Kentucky Artisan Center located on I-75 in Berea, KY (south of Lexington). The exhibit runs September 27, 2008 to January 29, 2009. The opening reception is Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Artists will be giving brief talks about their work at 1:30 pm. I will also be demonstrating shibori on silk at the Artisan Center on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. If you happen to be traveling on I-75, please stop by or join me on Nov. 8 or 15 if you're in the neighborhood! Work can be viewed on my blog. Take a look if you'd like!
Darlene Winship Creasy will be displaying her creations at the annual 18th Annual Castle Arts Affair. She has selected two paper mosaics and three acrylic paintings for the event which features the arts and crafts of over 100 artists in a wide variety of media. The preview party for artists and guests is November 7. The event is open to the public on November 8-9.

EXPLANATION, TUTORIAL
The photo albums can now be found at a new web site. Recently my free host decided it was time to make some money so they added many new features and morphed into a different entity. I could have opted out but transferring the albums to another host would have lost all the photo captions and I wasn't willing to do that. So I bit the bullet. The migration was mostly smooth but a few albums had their photos scrambled. Resequencing is taking some time.
There are three ways to view: small thumbnails, large thumbnails, and slideshow. Small thumbnails do not always show the entire caption. The slideshow displays the largest image, but the control panel sometimes covers the caption. I prefer the large thumbnails and will provide that link. Click on the first image to load the album. Move your cursor and the forward/back arrows appear at the top of the image. You can always choose another option once the album loads.
Now we are off and running with Dennis Jackson's latest adventures -
We spent a good deal of the summer at our cabin, hiding from the heat. I had promised to send you some more travel photos and belatedly here are some from one of our trips to the Silverton, CO area. It is a fantastic place to explore if you have a four wheel drive vehicle. The loop on route 110 is fantastic.
Dennis also sent photos of the family's hot air balloon experience in January 2005.

The usual suspects gathered to celebrate Pegi Oman's birthday. It is hard to believe she has been gone two years.

MEA CULPA BIG TIME!
In last month's issue, many people received my photos of the Horse Parade as a dead link. If you are interested, the photos have been transferred to my new online host and can be viewed here.
Quite by accident, two cat pictures crossed my desk at the same time. I threw in a photo of my own cat and have started an album titled Pets. Additional contributions will be posted happily.
Shirley Dorsey Ward had time on her hands so she numbered and named all the classmates in the group picture taken at the 2006 reunion.
