Sharon Kiernan Maggard visited Delaware in June and took some time to get together with some classmates for food, talk, and laughter. If there is anything we know how to do, it's food, talk, and laughter.
Wow, ladies! What can I say except it was so much fun. I didn't know some of you, knew some quite well... even attended Boardman grade school with Karen Murfield Faircloth. I enjoyed the wonderful conversation, reminiscing, good food, and will cherish the laughter. Thanks to Karen George for the hand cream and splash. They both smell so good. I'm truly grateful to Judy Myers for making the gathering happen. I'll be thinking of you having your monthly get togethers and wishing I could share them with you. We came home to Las Vegas a few days early. We had a great trip, but it was time to to get back to our own bed and routine. Sincerely, your old school chum, Sharon

Rumor has it that other classmates will be visiting this summer. We get to do this again!

Reg Moncur (class of 1945) sent this photo. It is definitely a shot of the Brown Jug, probably in the original Sandusky Street location, but the year is unknown. Although it was before our time, it is still interesting to see. I did find some history.
The Brown Jug Restaurant first opened in 1946 at the old Deposit Bank Building on North Sandusky Street in downtown Delaware. Twenty-four years and several owners later, the restaurant moved from Sandusky Street to its final location on West William Street.

Bob Strimer is officially a grandpa. Margot Leigh Voorhees was born April 9th in Boston. Congratulations all around, Bob, and I dedicate this little video to you. It is called, "Are Women Born This Way?" You definitely need sound for this!

Cathy Crosby Vigor was in town recently for the 2009 Quilt and Surface Design Symposium in Columbus (www.QSDS.com). Vicki DeVries Mills, Karen Oller George and I joined Cathy one evening for dinner and a tour of the workrooms. Quilting is so much more than bedcovers! We saw wall hangings as delicately and patiently designed as paintings, and dyes that make your eyes pop. It was quite a learning experience. Her recent exhibits can be seen on her blog.

Sally Jo Scott had a blast from the past.
I purchased tickets to see The Brothers Four in concert and saw a wonderful show. They have always been a favorite of mine and who cares if the audience was mostly silver headed because we all know that groupies can come in all shades. The sound was just as remembered – soft, mellow and close harmony. The newest member is from Whidbey Island and that certainly has its own pull. My best to all, love, Sally Jo

VIDEO OF THE MONTH
This a capella jazz choir ensemble is truly awesome. They perform "Africa," the rock band Toto's biggest hit, and I was completely blown away. You will need to turn the volume way up for the beginning when they simulate the soft sounds of rainfall. It is hard to believe that there are no instruments. Click here to see for yourself.

SAD NEWS
I was shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden, unexpected death of my dear friend and classmate, Ken Brown. He passed away on Monday, June 29, of a heart attack. I didn't know Ken in high school but several years ago, through the magic of email, we began to correspond. The more I learned about him, the more I admired him. In addition to being a Methodist minister, Ken was the author of several books and an avid student of American history. He was particularly interested in the old west and the Civil War, and he collected antique firearms. I am told his book collection would rival a town library. Ken was a gentle man with a quick wit and a kind heart. He will be missed.
